Import Sage Data to Acumatica
Here we’ll demonstrate, in a quick video, how to use Acumatica’s import scenarios to import Sage data to Acumatica. With Acumatica, you have a comfortable level of visibility to see and manipulate your data before importing it to the product.
This is a specific example of migrating AP Vendor data from Sage to Acumatica.
Recording: How to Import Sage Data to Acumatica
For data migration, expect to work through these steps:
- Start with a spreadsheet, which is your data export from Sage 300;
- Create or alter a data provider mapping in Acumatica, where you can see your data;
- Use Import Scenarios in Acumatica, where you give the data a home.
Data Export
This is the export of your vendor master files from Sage 300 ERP. To import Sage data to Acumatica, you first want to cleanse the data. This involves doing any data merging, and making decisions around which vendor master files should be imported to Acumatica.
Data Provider
The data provider builds the schema. The schema is a listing of all the fields that are in the data export spreadsheet. You can easily check/uncheck boxes next to each field to decide which data to bring into Acumatica.
Import Scenarios
Import scenarios define your final data destination. You will name your data provider, and you have the ability to define the screen of Acumatica that will house each data element. In our example, we look at vendor screens and see how each field will ultimately “look” in Acumatica using the “Import by Scenario” commands.
With Acumatica’s import scenarios, you have nice ability to re-use the same spreadsheet, but only import new records.
You also have the ability to edit any data right within the Import scenario. There is no need to re-upload the file- you can edit it right within the product. Once the data is prepared, you may even do a test import. If you find problems with the test import, you may manipulate the data within the Acumatica import screens and try again.
Importing Other Data
With Import Scenarios, you can import many other record types and even perform ongoing, complex integrations. For example, you could import:
- AP Vendors, as we have demonstrated;
- AR Customers
- Contact records
- Item records
- Acumatica users
The Salesforce integration is managed in part by import scenarios. There are interesting ways to leverage this tool beyond just the initial data load. At DataQuest we do many business process automations with Integration Manager (IMAN) for Sage 300 customers, and expect to use import scenarios to accomplish similar integrations.
