Case Study

Working remotely and still printing checks

The Challenge

Working from home threatened to make check printing impossible

When National Railway Labor Conference transitioned to allow working from home, the issue of printing checks became a sticking point.  How were accounting employees to ensure that check runs would be secure and timely?

This customer put a combination of tools in place in order to make this transition possible.

The Solution

Stronger workflow for check approval. And no more headaches with paper check printing.

The solution allows the accounting department to generate a check run in Sage 300. Then, an authorized check signer can electronically approve the checks. Finally, we send the approved checks off for automatic printing and mailing.

To make this solution possible, we integrated several elements with Sage 300:

  • PrintBoss Workflow (to manage the check approval process)
  • Orchid Document Management Link (to see supporting documentation)
  • PrintBoss Check Printing Service (to print and mail checks)

A faster, traceable process

Launching this solution was an opportunity to improve. Using Workflow allowed for separation of duties, which wasn't in place previously. And by using the check printing service, we eliminated the labor costs and headaches of check printing.

“This solution has kept us current with our vendors. In the absence of having everyone in one place, we are able to send out checks from our homes without disruption.”
